Why the name "Gemstones"?

When Dalen proposed to Ashley in the Fall of 2013, he put a ruby gemstone in the center of the ring. When their first little girl was born, in staying with the theme, they decided her middle name would be Sapphire. At the arrival of their second daughter, they landed on the middle name Emerald.

In 2022 Dalen and Ashley became pregnant with twins. Certain they were boys, their middle names were to be metals instead of gems: Argent (silver) and Aurum (gold). However, one little heart stopped beating and God blessed the family with a beautiful, healthy little girl. Since the gemstone amethyst has a property of twinning and two identical crystals grow from one base, "Amethyst" it was. Her twin will always be with her.
